BCP Council is considering the establishment of three new town councils – Broadstone, Bournemouth, and Poole.
A cross-party Task and Finish group, formed to explore local governance improvements, concluded that these new councils would replace the existing Charter Trustees, providing a separate tier of local governance with their own budgets.
The recommendations stem from a Community Governance Review and subsequent public consultation.
If approved, these town councils would manage services such as allotments, car parks, and community events, tailored to the specific needs of their areas. However, they would not oversee statutory services like children's and adult services.
The proposals are set to undergo further scrutiny, with discussions scheduled for the Overview and Scrutiny Board, Cabinet, and Full Council in October.
