A spending watchdog has echoed councils’ concerns that biometric entry requirements at UK ports could lead to freight delays and gridlock on major roads.

A report into the UK’s post-Brexit trade borders, published by the National Audit Office (NAO) today, warned the incoming EU Entry Exit System (EES) ‘could increase the risk of queues on the approach to the short straits [of Dover] after it is introduced by the EU in October 2024’.
