Braintree DC has warned it faces intervention from a second Government department when the Home Office ends its controversial use of a former airfield as an asylum centre.

The Essex-based district was recently informed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) that Whitehall is still considering the former RAF Wethersfield base for potential new prisons after the Home Office completes its use of the site for asylum accommodation.
