Mayors asked to take lead in drive against extremism

Local political leaders have been asked to spearhead efforts to tackle extremism and foster greater community cohesion following a summer of disorder.

Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner has written to metro mayors to ask them to develop plans to shape the long-term future of their areas.
