Worcestershire chief executive passes away

The chief executive of Worcestershire County Council passed away last week after 40 years in local government.

Steve Stewart joined Worcestershire CC in May last year and was also the chief executive of York and Northumberland councils.

The 64 year old had a long career in the local government sector that expanded over a 40 year period.

Cllr Adrian Hardman, deputy leader of the council said: ‘This is very sad news. Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.

‘Steve made a big contribution to this Council during his time with us and for that we are really grateful. He will be sadly missed by everyone.’
