All local authorities in Wales have signed up to a new charter, committing to work with the Welsh Government to develop a consistent benefits system.

Co-designed by stakeholders including the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) and councils, the Welsh Benefits Charter aims to improve the accessibility of the system and encourage eligible residents to claim support.

WLGA finance spokesperson Anthony Hunt said: ‘Now more than ever, as our communities continue to be gripped by the ongoing cost of living crisis, it is critical that residents are able to access and claim all eligible support.

‘Working together with Welsh Government and partners, this charter is part of the ongoing process to design and deliver an inclusive benefits system which works for our residents.’
