Trade union Unite has warned summer strike action will hit key events after talks with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) collapsed.
Unite, which said it was ‘actively preparing’ to ballot its local government membership, urged First Minister Humza Yousaf to directly intervene in the brewing local government pay dispute before any strike action takes place.
Councillors voted against a union motion that called for the negotiating body for the main local government workforce to approach the Scottish government for additional funds to improve upon the current 5% pay offer for 2023.
