UK child poverty revealed

Birmingham City Council’s Ladywood ward has the most number of children living below the poverty line, according to a report by the Campaign to End Child Poverty.
More than 80%, or 28,420, of children in the area, are in workless families or families claiming tax credit.
In Manchester Central, the figure is estimated to total 78%.
Country-wide, of the 13.2m children in the UK, 5.5m – more than one-third – live in low-income families or families in poverty.
Some 22% of children, or 2,895,000, are in families claiming the tax credit, while 22% or 2,664,000 live in workless families.
