Touching gesture

Touching gesture Birmingham City Council is asking local election candidates, agents and canvassers not to touch anyone else’s postal ballot, in a bid to stamp out fraud. The ‘no touch’ policy has been agreed by all of the council’s main political parties. ‘We want the people of Birmingham to be able to exercise their vote confidently and properly, and we welcome all of the support we have received from West Midlands Police and the political parties in ensuring that this election is conducted fairly and in accordance with the rules,’ said returning officer Stephen Hughes.
