Surrey IT boss takes helm at Socitm

The trade body for council IT professionals has appointed a new president.

Nick Roberts, IT group manager at Surrey Council, officially took up the role at Socitm’s spring conference in London.

During his time at Surrey he has developed a vision for regional collaboration with the creation of a public services network, Unicorn PSN, which is shared with Berkshire.

He also helped to set up a local authority trading company to run Surrey’s first fully managed service with health.

Previously chair of Socitm’s south region, he succeeds Steve Halliday, head of IT at Solihull Council.
