Summit postponed until Brown names names
The Core Cities Summit in Nottingham has been rescheduled to 7 and 8 November. The summit was originally due to be staged this week, on 27 June, but had been planned before the timetable for the resignation of Tony Blair was announced, and organisers were unable to finalise details on key ministerial speakers.
Full details on the final programme for the eight-strong core cities group – Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield – will be available from the website Gordon Brown’s takeover at Number 10 has led to a top event being shelved because ministers could not guarantee they would still have their jobs.
