Broadcaster Sky is planning to appeal Hertsmere Borough Council's decision to refuse planning permission for an expansion of Sky Studios Elstree.

The Sky Studios Elstree North plans include 10 sound stages that could create up to 2,000 jobs and enable £2bn of production investment within five years.

Sky told The Guardian that having ‘taken the time to assess the plans and engage with the local council and community, it is our intention to submit an appeal.’

The decision follows Housing Secretary Angela Rayner's decision last week to call in an application for a £750m film studio development that was rejected by Buckinghamshire Council.
