Select committee member loses Labour whip as police investigate

A Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee member has lost the Labour whip after a video emerged appearing to show him punching a man.

The party said Mike Amesbury, who was previously shadow local government minister, had been suspended ‘pending an investigation' into the incident.
