Rossendale BC has announced Rob Huntington will become its next chief executive.

Mr Huntington will take up the role in April, taking over from Neil Shaw after his departure last month.

Mr Huntingdon will join from St Helens MBC, where he is currently assistant chief executive.

He has also held roles at Lancaster City Council, Trafford MBC and Sheffield City Council.

Mr Huntington said: ‘I’ve worked in local government throughout my career, and I’m passionate about the vital role district councils play in creating the conditions for communities, places and businesses to thrive.’

Council leader Alyson Barnes added: 'Rob joins us at a particularly challenging period for local government with finances being squeezed like never before.

‘We need a chief executive who will roll up his sleeves up and work hard for the people of Rossendale, and I’m confident Rob will do just that.’

Director of communities Adam Allen will remain as acting chief executive until Mr Huntington arrives.
