Rochdale secures best workplace award

Rochdale’s Number One Riverside development has been chosen as the best workplace in the country in the British Council of Offices (BCO) awards.

The customer centre, office and library building was crowned best workplace for its design, excellent working environment and inviting public areas. The judges also said it had acted as a catalyst for further development in the town centre.

The building, part of a wider £250m regeneration programme, brought together 2,000 council staff and employees from partner agencies.

Cllr Richard Farnell, leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: ‘Number One Riverside is providing excellent facilities for our customers and residents and flexible space for council staff and partners.

'We had a fantastic team working on this project with the best of the public and private sector working together to create something really special here in Rochdale.’
