Ringway

The general maintenance and construction tipper truck is the stalwart of every Highways gang, so in recognition of this Ringway and Eurovia have recently launched their own in–house developed body with significant user engagement to develop a safer and more efficient prime maintenance vehicle.

This significantly improved body design has resulted in numerous efficiency and safety improvements including; a dedicated access and egress staircase to the working platform, numerous dedicated storage areas, foldable fall protection rails, an easy-to-use sheeting system and a simple-to-use single-boom ‘Penny’ crane.

The DAF LF55.220 was chosen as the preferred truck chassis as it offered the unique “extended day cab” option for personal protective equipment and valuable tools plus the UK manufactured vehicle can have chassis reconfiguration options to enable the unique safe access and egress stair case to be incorporated.

Ringway Highway service crews across Worcestershire are the first to benefit from the new generation maintenance tipper trucks, with three already in their fleet and a further 22 new DAF tippers on order due to be delivered and rolled out across the Ringway and Ringway Jacobs Highway service contracts by September.

Chris Dixon, Eurovia Transport & Plant Operations Manager, said “This customised body development is really exciting, particularly as the new safety initiatives are protecting our guys in the field and we managed to incorporate so many of the improvements demanded. We are increasingly moving out of 7.5 tonnes due to the license changes and we feel the 12.0 tonnes DAF gives us similar compact dimensions but great payload for our type of Highway operations”
