Local government reorganisation will help pay council workers a ‘fair wage', communities secretary Steve Reed has suggested.

Giving evidence to the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee, Reed conceded that council workers had suffered a real terms decline in their incomes since 2010 while ‘many' had been landed with a ‘considerable increase in their workload'.
