Pre-tax profits at contractor, Amey, soared by 70% in the last year, according to the latest financial figures.
The support services group filed its results at Companies House last week, which revealed pre-tax profits of £105.6m.The firm’s stake in Tube Lines accounted for more than one-quarter of the profit and one-third of the company’s total revenue.
Last year, Birmingham City Council awarded Amey preferred bidder status on a £2.7bn highways PFI contract.
According to the figures, Amey’s local government division saw revenue increase from £295m in 2008 to £324m in 2009, with an operating profit of £8.1m.
