The Government has turned down plans to build a large solar farm in rural Northamptonshire.

West Northamptonshire Council refused permission for the proposed 175-acre site development in October 2022.

The developer, Anesco, subsequently lodged an appeal, which was upheld by the Planning Inspectorate.

However, local government minister Simon Hoare has now overturned that decision arguing it would ‘inevitably introduce a fundamental change to agricultural land’ and cause ‘major visual harm’.
