Regional divides and inequalities risk being ‘baked into’ the roll-out of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, MPs have warned.

A new report by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) found the Government is on track to reach the minimum 300,000 EV charge points needed by 2030.

However, it also found that there is a high degree of inequality when it comes to the distribution of chargers across the country. Currently, 43% are in the South-East and London.

The report also warned that the interests of disabled drivers have been ‘left behind’ in the roll-out with no charge points in the UK currently fully compliant with accessibility standards.
