Norfolk’s level 3 devolution deal is set to be pushed back to 2025.
The county council’s cabinet has recommended pressing ahead with a deal, but delaying direct elections for the new leader.
Council leader Kay Mason Billig said holding it at the same time as the next scheduled council elections in 2025 would save money and allow more time for preparations to be made.
She told a meeting of the cabinet today that extra funding had been secured in the deal since she took over the role in May, and said once it was in place, Norfolk would be able to pursue further powers under a level 4 deal.
