The new leader of Flintshire County Council has warned the local authority could be forced to declare effective bankruptcy.
Labour councillor Dave Hughes used his maiden speech as leader of the council to call for harmony as the Welsh authority faces a budget gap of £38.4m for the next financial year.
He warned the possibility of having to issue a section 114 notice was ‘staring down the barrel of a gun’ at the council.
‘We have a massive task ahead of us with a 114 notice staring at us down the barrel of a gun,’ he said.
‘What I'm asking for is a lot more harmony so that we can get out of this problem.’
