Money talks save city £36m-plus

Birmingham City Council has saved more than £36m after negotiating a series of contracts.

The local authority has signed several new deals designed to get better value for money for taxpayers, including a contract for housing repairs, maintenance and gas servicing, which was £30.9m cheaper than the previous agreement.

The council has also signed new contracts to supply stationary, electrical equipment and groceries.
