Ministers have urged Surrey's shadow unitary authorities to prioritise the permanent recruitment of heads of paid service due to Woking BC's ‘financial challenges'.

In a letter to the leaders of the two shadow unitaries, local government minister Alison McGovern she said she supported their efforts to recruit permanent appointments, adding: ‘In particular for West Surrey, given the scale of the financial challenges in Woking, I would encourage that this process identifies candidates with the critical skillset to support this challenge'.
