The Government has ‘no intention to delay at all the local government reorganisation process', minister Jim McMahon has told council chief executives and leaders.

Councils had been expecting Whitehall feedback on their reorganisation proposals by the start of May but some areas received it as late as the beginning of June, leading some sector figures to call for McMahon to commit to extending the deadline for final proposals.
