McMahon: Government will abolish council committee system image

The Government has announced plans to legislate to abolish the committee system.

In a written Parliamentary statement today, local government minister Jim McMahon said councils that currently operated a committee system would have to switch to a leader and cabinet model, which the vast majority of English local authorities currently operate.
