Drivers entering Manchester could face an annual fee of up to £538 for parking permits in 2024, the highest in the UK, according to new research.
The figure is nearly double that of Islington, London, where fees are £288, according to the study by Moneybarn.
A spokesperson for Manchester City Council said the £538 is an average price based on the cost of four separate parking schemes in the city centre, adding that cheaper permits are available.
'There are a range of paid for parking permits open only to residents living in Manchester City Centre, as well as several resident parking zones outside the city centre which are free to local residents who may wish to apply for one.'
