Manchester City Council has unveiled plans to spend £15m revamping neighbourhoods and tackling waste.
The three-year ‘Clean and Green Manchester’ scheme will improve infrastructure across the city, starting with the replacement of 2,300 bins on streets and in community shopping centres.
The programme will also improve old play area equipment, create new paths in parks, install new benches, and support safe active travel to schools.
Executive member for vibrant neighbourhoods, Lee-Ann Igbon, said: ‘I am confident that this programme will play a major role in tackling issues around waste.
‘It will invest in our parks and neighbourhoods enabling them to be cleaner and greener and inspire others to give back to their local communities.’
