Lime has removed its e-bikes from Bromley following complaints that abandoned vehicles were creating hazards on pavements.

The company said a mapping error had allowed hiring in parts of the south-east London borough, including Penge, without council approval.

Cllr Simon Fawthrop, Bromley's Executive Councillor for Transport and Highways, said the council had raised concerns with Lime and welcomed the apparent change, though it awaited a formal response.

He warned the issue ‘needs to permanently stop,’ adding that the council would remove bikes and charge Lime for costs if problems continued.

A Lime spokesperson apologised for the disruption, saying the company had spoken with local MP Liam Conlon and tightened geofencing to stop bikes crossing from Lewisham into Bromley.

‘We understand this is frustrating and we are sorry for the issues this has caused for local residents,’ they added.
