The UK’s only holiday provider that offers 24-hour care for people with complex disabilities is set to close over ‘insurmountable’ financial challenges.

Charity Revitalise Respite Holidays, which has operated for 60 years, said it hoped the closure would make policy makers ‘take heed of the critical state of affairs in the social care sector and ensure that respite is properly funded’.

The charity offers unique respite stays at two specially adapted hotels, providing guests with holidays they may otherwise be unable to access because of a lack of support and adaptations for people with complex disabilities at other accommodation.

It said the breaks it provided would now be ‘beyond reach’ for most of its guests.

The centres will close on 25 November.

Revitalise said in statement: ‘To our dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, and supporters, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unparalleled efforts and passion for Revitalise’s mission.

‘Your contributions have made a tangible difference in helping provide vital respite for disabled people and their carers.’
