LGA urges chiefs to challenge children's services directors

Chief executives should confront directors to ensure children’s services are well delivered, fresh guidance published by the Local Government Association (LGA) has suggested.

The advice on running effective children’s services noted that even the most experienced directors ‘can get it wrong’ given that they too are faced with time constraints and financial pressures.

It read: ‘Be sure to challenge views, and insist on seeing plans and having regular updates on progress.’
