Mayors and councils will be given powers to join up services locally to tackle worklessness, the work and pensions secretary will announce today.

In a White Paper, Liz Kendall will hand responsibility to local government to join up work opportunities, the NHS and skills to help the around 1.5 million people now unemployed in Great Britain.
