Plans to close 10 libraries across Caerphilly county borough have been halted after the High Court granted an interim injunction.
The council had announced last week (2 September) that closures would proceed, following confirmation that an earlier application for an injunction had failed. However, the decision was appealed, and the High Court has now ordered a pause to the plans.
As a result, the 10 library sites will reopen to the public as soon as possible, subject to staffing and operational requirements.
Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education, said: 'It’s disappointing that the original decision has been overturned but we must respect the legal process. We are still committed to progressing our ambitious libraries strategy, which will help deliver a resilient and sustainable Library Service for the future.'
The council confirmed it will keep residents informed as the legal process continues.
