Waltham Forest Council is struggling to find a suitable location for a statue of local hero Harry Kane.
The statue of the England football captain and former Tottenham striker, who was born in Walthamstow, was commissioned by the London borough in 2019 and reportedly cost £7,200.
It remains in storage and has yet to appear in public.
Councillors had attempted to place the statue at Chingford Overground station, but the proposal was denied following a Transport for London risk assessment.
Emma Best, one of two councillors who originally commissioned the statue, told the BBC that she had spent ‘hours and hours’ trying to agree a location with stakeholders.
Cllr Best said: 'We are really excited for the launch of the statue in the coming months to celebrate England’s men’s football captain and all-time top scorer who grew up right here in Chingford.
'This was an excellent community idea for ward funding, a specific ring-fenced funding pot Waltham Forest Council allocate to wards which must be spent on projects applied for by residents.
'The statue will support our local economy while also inspiring young and old alike by showcasing that however big your dream you can achieve it.'
