Twelve of Hampshire's 15 authorities have backed three different five-unitary reorganisation proposals which they claim would save more than £63m annually.
The business case for four mainland councils plus the Isle of Wight, which has been drawn up by consultancy KMPG, runs counter to the Hampshire CC and East Hampshire DC plan that calls for three mainland unitaries, with the mainland split into north Hampshire, south east Hampshire and south west Hampshire.
