Guildford BC’s leader has survived a vote of no confidence over the authority’s finances.
The council has staved off the immediate threat of a section 114 notice but warned ‘difficult decisions’ lie ahead to balance budgets in the coming years.
An investigation is also under way into ‘alleged irregularities surrounding a housing maintenance contract’.
Conservative group leader Philip Brooker tabled the confidence vote in Liberal Democrat council leader Julia McShane at last night’s meeting.
