Grand designs

Four councils have been recognised for championing the good design of public buildings by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
Birmingham City Council, Barking and Dagenham LBC and North Somerset Council, all received a Festive Five award for setting the standard in architecture and design.
