Gove could launch police inquiry for Birmingham

Reports the levelling up secretary could send a police chief in to investigate financial mismanagement in Birmingham City Council have resurfaced on the eve of local elections.

National media reports claim Michael Gove could use powers never used before to run a statutory local inquiry after the council issued two section 114 notices.
