Free taxi rides offered in London to help elderly cast their vote

People 65 or receiving social care are being offered a free taxi ride to polling stations in London until 10pm tonight.

The service is being provided by black cab app Gett and social care startup Cera to help the capital’s elderly population cast their vote today.

The cabs can be booked by the person themselves, or via a carer or family member.

Dr Ben Maruthappu, Co founder and President of Cera, said: ‘Through our partnership with Gett, we have access to hundreds of trusted cabbies who can safely deliver our patients and their carers to the nearest polling station before taking them home again.

'We are thrilled that together we can offer free rides to all patients receiving social care.’
