A former deputy headteacher has been hired as Portsmouth City Council’s interim head of education.
Julien Kramer was interim chief education officer for Hillingdon LBC from 2011 to 2013, having retired from the role of chief education officer with Worcestershire CC, a post he held from 1997 to 2005.
Mr Kramer’s contract will run until next summer, when the council plans to recruit a permanent head of education.

The council’s cabinet member for children’s services, Cllr Rob Wood, said: ‘I welcome the new interim head of education, who will be taking forward the excellent work we have been doing.
‘He comes with great credentials in working with people, and we will benefit from his vast experience within both schools and local authorities.’
Portsmouth’s former head of education, Di Mitchell, recently brought forward her retirement for personal reasons.
