The first charities and voluntary organisations in Rotherham to be given extra cash to help victims of child sexual exploitation have been named.
The grants have been announced as part of a £120,000 funding package announced last month to provide an immediate extra support for victims and their families while proposals for long term post-abuse support are drawn up to come into effect next year.
The council had reduced its cabinet size in order to fund the support.
The extra support follows a damning report last month revealing the scale of the child sex abuse scandal in Rotherham involving at least 1,400 victims. The current proposals will be considered by Rotherham MBC's cabinet on 15 October.
They include grants to the Rotherham Women's Counselling Service and Pit Stop for Men to fund an increase in specialist counselling, the Grow Project and South Yorkshire Community Foundation.
