Essex claims three unitary reorganisation would best tackle debt crisis image

Essex CC's leadership has claimed its favoured three unitary model of reorganisation would best manage the county's ‘heavily indebted' local government system.

As the region's 15 existing councils continue to argue over the merits of a three, four or five unitary solution the county has argued its proposal would balance out council debt across Essex so no single new unitary picks up an excessive amount.
