Electric start to vehicle trial

Cllr Paul Tilsley, deputy leader of Birmingham City Council, has launched the first stage of a UK-wide electric vehicle trial.


Cllr Tilsley, who opened Birmingham’s trial on 12 December, said the city’s experiment was ‘particularly relevant, given the fact that the council recently approved the Birmingham Declaration on Climate Change, which outlines its aim to procure only electric or LPG vehicles by 2015.’
He said it was fitting that Birmingham and Coventry were leading the new initiative, given their history of vehicle manufacturing
