Residents in Durham have voted in favour of creating a new parish council for the city.
Durham County Council said 66% of voters said they backed the proposal, which would have 15 councillors and come into effect from 1 April 2018.
The consultation was held following a petition from MP Roberta Blackman-Woods, requesting that people in unparished areas of the city be consulted on the formation of a new town council.
The council will be asked to agree the draft recommendations in June.
