Dudley council chiefs will next week discuss multi-million-pound improvement proposals for town centre regeneration projects.
The improvement schemes will transform public spaces and facilities in both Brierley Hill and Halesowen, each of which have received £20m through the Levelling Up Fund.
Action plans to regenerate the town centres of Brierley Hill and Halesowen were previously adopted in 2011 and 2013, respectively, but the upcoming cabinet meeting will see the initial frameworks being updated.
The new proposals will involve a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) being formed between the council and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Cllr Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, said: ‘The signing of the MoU is a commitment from both parties to work together to drive improvements in Brierley Hill and Halesowen town centres.
‘It will allow us to set in stone what we want to spend the funding on.’ In a recent statement, the council welcomed members of the public to attend the cabinet meeting.
Cllr Phipps added: ‘We will be acting on public feedback in Halesowen to deliver a significantly revised project to that which was first proposed.
‘It is an opportunity to deliver a real shot in the arm for both towns, to drive more trade and footfall and create new jobs.’
