A collection of articles on the role to be played by district councils in supporting the City Deal initiative has been published by the District Councils' Network (DCN).
Entitled 'Localising Growth: The district contribution to delivering City Deals', the paper includes contributions from cities minister Greg Clark, the Local Government Association, the New Local Government Network think-tank and a variety of district councils including Chesterfield, Norwich, Tamworth and East Staffordshire.

Mr Clark, who is also financial secretary to the Treasury, said the publication is a timely reminder that districts have a big part to play, as confirmed by Tamworth BC's involvement in shaping the first wave Birmingham City Deal.
'I'm encouraged by the fact that district councils are engaging with this process and thinking through the implications,'Mr Clark said.
Cllr Chris Knowles-Fitton, DCN executive lead for economic growth, said: 'In areas where City Deals stretch across two-tier areas, districts are demonstrating that they have a vital contribution to make across devolved powers and resources in skills, transport, housing and major infrastructure.'
