The ‘devil will be in the details' of the Government's proposed reforms to welfare, says the leader of a council network calling for deprivation-based resets of the local government funding model.

Chair of the Special Interest Group of Municipal Authorities (SIGOMA) Sir Stephen Houghton was asked by The MJ if Government plans to freeze Universal Credit incapacity benefits and new restrictions on eligibility for Personal Independence Payments (PIPS) could put any benefits of his organisation's call for a new deprivation-based council funding model at risk.
