Councils should reassess their China-related activities to ensure they can access opportunities to emerge from closer ties being developed between the Chinese and UK governments, a defence and security think-tank has urged.

The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) said councils were well positioned to ‘play an important role' in greater collaboration between the UK and China, including by helping develop closer economic ties between Chinese firms and UK councils and encouraging Chinese students to study in the UK.
