Councillors help save life of heart attack man

Councillors helped save the life of a man who suffered a heart attack at a meeting.

Three politicians helped revive the man in his early 70s, who had a heart attack while addressing a Cambridge City Council planning meeting.

Labour councillor Russ McPherson made use of his training as a first aider while Conservative Cllr Shapour Meftah cleared the man’s airwaves and tried to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Dr Tim Moore, a Lib Dem candidate, helped the pair.

After two shocks using a defibrillator the team managed to get a pulse back once paramedics arrived.

Deputy mayor of Cambridge, George Pippas, tweeted: ‘Dr Tim Moore who is the Lib Dem Candidate for QE together with Cllrs McPherson and Meftah in my view saved the man’s life!’
