Councillor suspended for lewd comments made to hunting campaigner

A Conservative councillor has been suspended from Breckland Council after being filmed making lewd comments at a hunting protester.

Cllr Charles Carter was caught making ‘inappropriate and offensive’ sexual remarks to a woman at a hunt in Yorkshire.

A video streamed live on Facebook showed Cllr Carter making comments such as ‘I'd quite like to s*** you, actually’ to Linda Hoggard.

Breckland Council immediately suspended Cllr Carter and has launched an investigation to his behaviour.

William Nunn, leader of Breckland Council, said: ‘Having been made aware of the video this morning, I was appalled by the conduct of one of my Conservative councillors who has clearly brought the party and the council into disrepute as a result of his behaviour.

‘I immediately took action and the individual concerned has been suspended from the Conservative Group at Breckland Council pending the outcome of a full investigation by the Mid Norfolk Conservative Association.’
